Summary

Sweet and grounding, Burdock is an Earthy plant with its wide leaves, deep taproots, and ability to both nourish weakness and cleanse excesses from the body. Just as it loves to grow near waste grounds, Burdock clears metabolic waste products and toxins from the fluids in your body to keep your skin glowing and healthy.

Β

Since the health of the skin is merely a reflection of the health of your liver, blood, lymph, and digestion, focusing on topical solutions alone won't get you very far. By working on each of these organs on a deep level, you can find long-term relief for chronic skin conditions through Burdock.Β

Β

In today's plant profile, you'll discover:

Β

  • Why I call Burdock the "all-purpose alterative" and how it's so versatileΒ

  • Burdock's unique blend of sweet, mineral salt, and slightly bitter tastes which leads to its versatile medicine influenceΒ

  • The relationship between oily and expansive Burdock and the gas planet JupiterΒ

  • How you can use Burdock to improve your skin, whether it's overly dry or oilyΒ

  • Ways Burdock can help you deal with your worries about the unknown

  • Different ways you can prepare Burdock at home, from tea to soupΒ

So the other day I was walking this way to the compost shed to dump our bucket of compost.

0:29.8

And yeah, I looked over and I realized, holy Toledo, we got a big patch of burdock over here.

0:35.0

And this is a super cool plant, you know. I refer to it as the all-purpose

0:40.3

alternative because burdock is just one of the most amazing plants that addresses this whole

0:47.5

pattern of alternative therapy. And while I'm not really one to say that, you know, a plant is

0:53.5

best for everyone, if someone

0:56.1

matches the pattern where they need an alternative, I really think Burdock is one of the

1:01.2

first and best remedies to go to because it is applicable for a really wide range of people.

1:07.0

So here we are at the Burdock patch.

1:08.9

You're going to get all set up here and dig in to some of the medicinal virtues of this very

1:13.7

important herbal medicine.

1:16.1

Holy burdock.

1:17.1

This is our little actually big burdock area on the property here.

1:21.7

It's actually right next to our compost bin.

1:24.5

And what's interesting about this herb is that it actually didn't

1:27.8

used to be here at all. And then, yeah, when we put our compost structure over here, all the

1:34.2

sudden, all of this burdock started popping up all over the land, but especially located right

1:40.3

around here, which I think is kind of an interesting, interesting signature of this plant

1:46.1

and that it kind of likes these areas where there's stuff kind of decomposing, basically. For some

1:52.8

reason, a lot of alternative plants seem to like those types of habitats. Notice that with

1:56.9

nettle leaf as well. So anyways, here we are, Burdock, Arctium Lapa.
