Summary

Joseph Minich joins Todd and Carl to discuss his new book, Bulwarks of Unbelief. Millions of people in the West identify as atheists. Christians often respond to this reality with proof of God’s existence, as though rational arguments for atheism were the root cause of unbelief. Joseph argues that a felt absence of God, as experienced by the modern individual, offers a better explanation for the rise in atheism. In response, Christians should reattune themselves to God’s story, reintegrate the whole person, and re-inhabit the world so that faith can thrive in this age of unbelief. 1:12.9	You know, I was thinking just now as you were introducing yourself, I'm not a fellow anywhere.
1:18.0	I have no fellow, no, no, no fellowship, no fellow. How do you get one of those? And what would
1:25.0	be a good one for me? You have to be somebody of merit for a start.
1:28.3	Oh, well, yeah.
1:29.5	And you have to work hard and that kind of stuff.
1:32.8	So two strikes for me right there.
1:34.5	Two strikes against you, two strikes in.
1:36.2	But you are on the, you know, in the trenches of the mega church world.
1:40.0	I mean, what is it like as a mega church?
1:41.3	So true. I mean, what is it like to make a church ask? Well, you know, it's very difficult, Carl, not everybody can do it.
1:46.6	You know, I mean, there's got to be a fellowship for that, right?
1:50.1	I mean, for average, for highly average people like myself, there's got to be some sort of a fellows program.
1:57.3	I would think so.
1:58.3	I could occupy a chair somewhere, perhaps. You could make yourself.
2:02.6	I always been fascinated by the title Theologian in Residence. That I like.
2:07.4	The kind of job is, are we just paying people around to hang around and think theological thoughts?
