Summary

On Christmas Day 2006, 18-year-old Ryan Waller and his girlfriend Heather Quan became victims of a brutal home invasion in Phoenix, Arizona. Heather was murdered. Ryan was shot twice in the head and somehow survived — with bullet fragments still lodged deep in his brain. What followed was one of the most controversial police interrogations ever recorded. Despite his severe injuries, Ryan was questioned for several hours before receiving full medical treatment.

The footage of that interview, in which he appears disoriented and struggling to stay conscious, has since become one of the most talked-about moments in true-crime history. In this episode, KJ examines the interrogation video, the investigation that followed, the search for the real perpetrators, and the long-term impact the events had on Ryan’s life. It’s a powerful story of the most unforgettable cases in modern true crime.
