I am your good friend and host Steve Robertson here on the Monday edition of the yard.

Yes, we're late today because I had an elongated meeting with athletic director, Zach Selman.

Today, Zach, very generous with his time.

We're going to talk about that later in the show. Had a good meeting with him. And I'll tell you guys this. I have had some brief interactions with him. You know, at ball games, I mean, we're on the road. Of course, you see a friendly face. He comes up and says hello and had a great time, you know of getting to know him but today was kind of a

and I think it can be very interested to read some of the things he has to say

about his vision for Mississippi State he's been here about a hundred days now so he's got a pretty

good idea of kind of you know what our strengths are and maybe perhaps where we need to shore some

things up I was impressed I will tell you I was impressed now it's one of the things to

you know sit down and say the right things, but I sense a real sincerity in him. I think this is not a matter of it's just a job or a stop in the road with him. I do believe he truly wants to make Mississippi State a much better place.

And I don't know that I would have felt that way.

I mean, it's not to say that I wouldn't prepare to give him the benefit of the doubt,

but to have a chance to sit down and just me and him.

There was nobody else around saying, hey, Zach, don't answer this, or you should answer that.

And I asked him, when I sat down, I said, is there anything you don't want to talk about? And he goes, absolutely not. I said, is there anything that you absolutely want to talk about to make sure we kind of get it on the record? He goes, I want to talk about what you want to talk about. I can't say, that's always been the case when I go and sit down with an administrator, you know, or a coach, something like that. There's, in some situations,

there's always some things that are all out of bounds or off limits. And I just didn't get that

with Zach Selman today. I think I could have asked him anything. And to be honest with you, I did.

I did. I didn't sit there and interrogate him, you know, like it was some, you know, Miami Vice scene, you know, where the sweat beads are dripping down or whatever, you know, I didn't go in here and throw things or anything. It was a very, you know, honest and very professional conversation. And a matter of fact, we spent probably maybe a half hour talking about, you know, my history, you know, how I became to be a

Mississippi State man, you know, did what I born into this and I choose this, you know, those

kind of things.
