As always, I am your good friend that hosts Steve Robertson here on the magnificent Monday edition of the yard.

A little bit later than I'd planned.

But I'd be honest with you, I was a little curious to see if Aliyah Mataou would get the SEC Fresh from the week award.

And she did.

What a week she had.

I mean, there shouldn't be a surprise, but Mataru was becoming a household name in the state of

Mississippi, and if you look at social media, if you look at these Facebook groups,

and you look at the message, forward comments, everybody that follows Mississippi State women's

basketball, they want more, more, Matharu. I don't know that Ole Miss wants anymore of her.

And I tell you what a big game yesterday. We're going to break all that down. It's a very

difficult weekend for Mississippi State out in Long Beach. It was hopeful we would win that series. We did not.

We did have a good Saturday game, thought the bats had awoken, and then Sunday,

off to a good start, couldn't capitalize on it. We'll talk about the things that went wrong

and what needs to happen moving forward. Is it time to panic? I say no.

And I'm going to be honest with you guys.

Of the final three, that's the game that worried me the most.

From an effort and an intensity standpoint, I thought, you know what, we might go up there

and maybe overlook them because, you know, South Carolina is a team that's kind of right there in the thick of things.

We know the kind of game that we're going to get and we play the game, Cox.

And so if we got caught looking ahead to what will be another war with South Carolina, it would be understandable.
