If you weren't with us last week, we launched into a sermon series that's going to carry us through the summer, and it's got two titles.

The first title is for those of you who grew up in a more traditional environment for church.

It's going to be really comfortable for you to hear this.

It's called First Peter.

We're walking through First Peter, and we're going to patiently do that and let the Word of God speak to us.

But if you're comfortable with a more relevant kind of contemporary name, it's called built different. I'm built different. I'm built different. It's what the kids are saying these days, guys. It's about there's another level to what God is building in my life. And it doesn't look like the rest of the world around me, and that's okay. One of the main themes of 1 Peter is how Christians are called to look different in the world.

That we are of the world around me, and that's okay. One of the main

themes of First Peter is how Christians are called to look different in the world, that we are in the

world, but we're not of the world. And one of the other themes is that we're being built up as what

he calls living stones. That the church God was building 2,000 years ago when Peter penned this letter

was not about buildings being built up where

people were going to gather it was about minds and hearts that were being surrendered so that jesus

could come in and make the people of god holy and make the people of god different and make the people of

god look like they are the set apart people of god that he calls them because the marker of the people

of god because of the holy spirit of god is not that they belong to the people of israel he calls them because the marker of the people of God because of the Holy Spirit

of God is not that they belong to the people of Israel or some kind of ancestry or lineage that leads

back to Abraham. No, it's about the blood of Jesus uniting humanity and the marker that the

blood of Jesus has had its effect on your life is that you are living a holy life, that you're living a set

apart life, that you don't look like the world around you. So here's what God's doing at ACC.

God is building our church. And in a season where we are literally building a giantormous

building just a few miles away in a construction site where deep work is being done, that's a great

mental picture,
