Well, thank you, Miles, for telling that story because I wasn't planning on getting emotional

until the end, but I was sitting in my seat just thinking back to that moment.

It's cool to me to hear from Miles the details that he remembers about that situation,

because as soon as you start talking, I'm like, I can put myself right back in that situation.

And so it's just powerful.

That got me fired up.

Yes, I work with our high school and middle school students, but most of my volunteers are college students. And so I love talking to. I love seeing the just droves of freshmen that walk in. And so I'm excited about this year. And here's the cool thing is Miles is pointing back to that moment seven years ago. That doesn't even feel real that it was seven years ago. But he's pointing back to that moment of when I got impacted by this church. And the coolest

thing, and it ties in right with this verse, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

And the thing about this church that has not changed is that heart of desperation. Like,

we come together. We do these things the best of our ability,

but it does not matter unless the Holy Spirit meets us here. And honestly, that's my favorite

thing about Miles. Geography, he's a little weak on sports teams, not sure about, but all of that

aside, all of those things aside, he is desperate to obey what he feels like the Lord's calling him to.

And so when he steps on this stage, sometimes he offends us, but he's following what the Holy Spirit says.

He makes decisions with wise counsel and he's listening to people.

So I'm honored to follow him and honored to be here on the stage because I truthfully believe,

yes, I prepared and I've studied the scripture we're going to go through,

but it doesn't matter unless the Holy Spirit moves in your heart and speaks through me. And so

would you just lean in with me because I'm excited for this morning? And I'm excited that the fall's

coming. I have been pushing back against this for a little while. Like I said, it doesn't feel

real that seven years ago I was a freshman in college.

I at different points have been like, okay, yes, I'm technically an adult. I know I'm married and have a kid right now, but I really need to like lean into, I hang out with college students and middle school and middle school students all the time. So I feel like the oldest one in the room, but I don't really want to admit that I'm fully an adult. Well, I had a moment this week where I was like,
