The Old Testament book of Nehemiah in chapter 4.

So if you have your Bibles, go ahead and turn there.

We're going to be looking at verses 1 through 18.

And we're going to be looking at a message entitled

building through adversity.

And tonight we're going to examine a portion

of this awesome book of Nehemiah,

where Nehemiah and the Jews who were building the wall

faced some very real adversity.

But before we look into that text tonight,

let's talk about this word adversity for a brief moment.

Adversity can be defined as an event,

or oftentimes a series of events, which opposes.

It can be described as calamity, affliction,

or a state of serious continued difficulty

or misfortune.

I'm sure in some capacity we have all faced some version

of adversity in our lives.

But I doubt many of our lives compared

to that of Louis Amperini.

If you guys don't know, maybe the name is ringing a bell,
