Welcome to Life and Art from F.T. Weekend. I'm Lila Raptopoulos.

The film Furiosa, a Mad Max saga, is one of the most anticipated films of the summer.

It's the fifth installment of George Miller's ambitious Mad Mac series, and it stars Anya Taylor Joy and Chris Hemsworth.

It's also the prequel to the 2015 film Fury Road, which is considered one of the greatest action films of all time.

Fury Road is set in a post-apocalyptic Red Desert Wasteland. The wasteland is filthy and

honestly spectacular. There are steampunk bandits and biker gangs, and they drive these sophisticated

junkyard vehicles that double as weapons.

The film is also deliberately vague about how this place came to be.

Furiosa, the prequel, is specific.

It tells us the backstory of this world and and of its heroine, and of the warlords within it,

who are fighting for power and natural resources.

As a child, my world was forever changed.

My mother was magnificent.

And he took it all from me.

What do we have here?
