This morning sermon text is found in the book of 2nd Timothy chapter 3

versus 10 through 17

2nd Timothy chapter 3 verse 10

But you followed my teaching conduct purpose faith

patience love perseverance, persecutions, and sufferings.

Such has happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Listra.

What persecutions I endured, and out of them all the Lord delivered me.

And indeed, all who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted. But evil men and imposters will proceed

from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scriptures inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training and righteousness,

that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. Father, as we bow now over your holy word, we are conscious that the same spirit who inspired it is necessary to illuminate and apply it.

And so we would not rush forward without pausing to declare I dependence upon him.

Would you send him in fresh measure now? Would you pour out

pour out your Holy Spirit upon this congregation to give them ears to hear

and upon me with an anointing to preach this text and to be

be faithful to it in the words that I say and the demeanor

with which I speak them. I pray Lord that you would draw people to yourself and if any among us is not saved, not believing, not united to Christ and benefiting from his righteousness, would you master them and overcome all rebellion and all resignation and all resistance and make them your own in great mercy.

Please help me now to be faithful to this word.

In Jesus' name and for his glory I pray. Amen. In this series on education for exultation, we have moved from exultation in God to exultation

in Christ, to exultation in the cross to exultation by the Spirit through the Word. And now it's fitting that we pause and focus on that word.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word.

We talked about the hearing of faith last week,

and now we talk about the word.
