Our faith is very practical. "But as for you, teach what accords with sound[a] doctrine. 2 Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. 3 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, 4 and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. 6 Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled. 7 Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, 8 and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us." - Titus 2: 1-8 Our faith is meant to be passed down Duet: 6:4-9: Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.[b] 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. What this means: the way we live and run our households matters greatly. From the dusting, to the diaper changes. From the cooking to the cuddling up and reading a book, both the actual work and the tone in our home matters. We have a tendency in the Western Church to over emphasize the Spiritual. We focus so much on the fact that this world is not our home, that we severely neglect our physical homes in the here and now. We are so focused on the Lord coming back at any moment, that we forget the very real possibility of our great-great-great grand children growing up to know the Lord. And we know that God blesses generations of Christians. We need to think a lot more about how we are getting the faith down to our grand children, than what vacation we are taking next or the next netflix show we want to binge. So when we think about legacy, and everyday routines, and big picture, and nitty gritty, we need to focus on a few things: 1. Our own behavior and attitude is of utmost importance. It’s better to live on the corner of your roof top than with a contentious wife. It’s better to serve walmart pizza on paper plates and have a joyful attitude than to make a 4 course meal but to be a terrible grouch throughout it. 2. The training we do in our homes, is for eternity. In our society, it seems like since we can outsource most of the essential tasks of the home: cooking food, doing laundry, educating our kids, cleaning the house…can all be outsourced to someone else now. so we lose the perspective that how we run and manage our homes matters greatly. There are two entire generations - millenials and Gen Z who have come or are c...

and my heart and my soul for what this conference is going to be for really what we're

1:23.7

talking about. And so today we're talking about building your home, being legacy-minded,

1:29.4

what that has to do with habits and routines within the home, and how we can be faithful

1:36.5

Christian women within our homes, how we can recover that lost art of homemaking, why it matters,

1:41.9

and why normal habits and routines and building skills,

1:46.8

why does this matter in light of eternity within our homes? And this is one of my very favorite

1:52.7

talks that I have probably ever given. It's long, though. So I'm going to stop now,
