I'm Katerina, and in this episode I'll be bringing you the highlights from the launch of the Green Innovation Policy Commission,

which we use to discuss with expert what type of infrastructure we need for a low-carbon economy in the UK. The Green Innovation Policy Commission is a new initiative,

bringing together UK businesses and leading academics

to look at the innovation needed to achieve net zero.

Infrastructure is fundamental to how our economy runs.

Decisions about transport, buildings and land management

all determining the choices we all make.

And much of it is currently set up for a high carbon activity.

But the right policies could change this.

For instance, infrastructure can make low-carbon travel and energy-efficient homes and workplaces the norm.

So what needs to change, and how can we make sure that the way that infrastructure is planned and managed in the UK

promotes innovative low-carbon solutions that we urgently need?

And how can the government make this a reality?

To discuss this, we gather an expert panel.

John Cridland, Chairman of Transport for the North, Laura Sands, co-chair of the IPPR Environmental Justice Commission, Angela Francis,

Chief Advisor for Economics and Economic Development at WWF, and Jennifer Baxter, head of engineering

at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

The discussion was chaired by Sean Spears, Green Alliance's Executive Director.
