This week I am honored to welcome back the artist Dean Fisher.

You might remember that I interviewed Dean a while back when we talked about his extended

painting trip in Europe after he graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago.

Dean ended up living there for eight years and he eventually met his wife Josephine.

Recently, Dean and I were catching up and we started talking about moving between countries,

settling back into life in the U.S. and studio spaces.

It's a topic that's at the front of my mind since my husband and I recently moved from Argentina

to California.

Dean and his wife Joe now live in a beautifully remodeled barnhouse in Connecticut.

And as it turns out, there's a story behind this barnhouse, which Dean is going to share with you.

So we're going to just jump right into the middle of this conversation.

But before we do, I want to put things into context for you.

So after Dean and Joe moved to the US from Europe, they looked for ways to keep their

overhead as low as possible so that they could continue painting without a lot of

stress. They started in California, then they spent a few years in Tennessee before moving to

Connecticut. How they got there is a fascinating story of determination, a bit of

luck, and a lot. I mean a lot of sweat equity.
