| 0:00.0 | You aren't where you want to be in life because you can't withstand the hard times and hard things that happen to you. |
| 0:06.8 | And it takes you too long to recover. You fall too far when it happens. And then finally, when you do recover, you're worse than you were when you started. |
| 0:14.1 | Today, I want to talk about something that I think is key to entrepreneurship and even just being a human being who gets what they want out of life. |
| 0:20.0 | And it's a topic that I think a lot about, which is one that's called mental toughness. |
| 0:24.5 | And so I made this for you guys. |
| 0:27.4 | What is mental toughness? |
| 0:28.7 | It's the chance a bad thing changes how you act in a way that's against your goals. |
| 0:34.6 | Or it'd be like, well, what does it actually mean? |
| 0:35.7 | It just means the percentage is likely that when something bad happens, you change the way you act in a way that's not ideal. |
| 0:41.7 | That means that mental toughness is no longer a do you have mental toughness or not, but instead, |
| 0:48.5 | it's how much mental toughness do you have. Fundamentally, what we're trying to get into is |
| 0:52.8 | how people respond to bad things, |
| 0:55.1 | all right? And so once we have it defined, which is that the chance of bad thing happens to you, |
| 0:59.5 | then we have to create an environment in which mental toughness can be exercised and then ideally measured. |
| 1:04.6 | Right. And when we do that, I can give you a visual so that you can start thinking about your own behavior |
| 1:08.7 | within this context. So number one ear, |
| 1:11.5 | that's how you normally behave. So whatever your normal kind of baseline is, that's how you act |
| 1:15.8 | every single day. Then at some point, a bad thing or enough bad things happen, then it forces |
| 1:21.3 | you to change how you behave. That's step two. Step three is, okay, once I've changed how I |
| 1:26.7 | behave, how low do I go or how upset do I get, right? |
| 1:30.0 | Number three, then there's a certain period of time that elapses where you continue this bad behavior, |
| 1:35.6 | and then you start coming up, you start recovering. That's the next period, which is number four. |
