So grateful for you and those of you to join us online, grateful for you as well. Cool, we get to do this together. My name is Bro, by the way, and I get to be on the teaching team here. here. And I just want to say thank you for the last four weeks for allowing me to show up and just

do this series. I don't normally get to do that. So it's been really fun hang out with you all. And I just love you all so much and just grateful for all of you. If you're new around here, or maybe this is your first time, and you wonder what we've been doing this summer, what we've been doing, maybe even on vacation or going to camp or something like that. But the past few weekends, we just kind of been living in Matthew,

chapter 5, 6, and 7 in the New Testament section of the Bible. It's the greatest sermon ever

preached by the wisest person who ever lived. His name is Jesus. And we have been learning as we unpack this sermon

that Jesus' sermon is both an invitation and an inventory. It's an invitation for all of us

to get on the narrow path or the rebel way, the road that leads to life, to not just go with

the flow, but to paddle upstream

against the cultural current toward the true source of life. I mean, Jesus tells us in the

sermon that if you chase after happiness, you'll never find it. But if you chase after God,

happiness will find you. In fact, he even redefines happiness. He redefines what the quote-unquote

good life is. I mean, week one, we saw how he started this radically catarcultural sermon by saying,

anybody want to be happy? Anyone will live a blessed life? How about we start here?

Bless are the poor and spirit. Those who will omit blessed life. How about we start here? Blessed are the poor in spirit. Those who will

admit they are spiritually bankrupt and recognize their need for God. That's where happiness begins.

Then he lays out some steps for true happiness. You might remember we had a ladder, like a 40-foot

ladder up here. It was an 8-foot ladder, but it felt like 40 feet to me.
