Hi everyone, hello, welcome back to the evolution of horror, my name is Mike, as ever, I'm

your host and I'm dropping you guys a little bonus episode today, because today, on the

day this episode drops, it's the 10th of March 2022, which marks the 25th anniversary

of one of the greatest TV shows, if not the greatest TV show ever made, Buffy the Vampire

Slayer. The original pilot episode, season one, episode one, went out on telly for the first

time on the 10th of March 1997. Cannot believe this incredible show is 25 years old. The show,

of course, spanned over 100 episodes across seven seasons. It became one of the most influential

television shows of all time. It's one of the most written about shows ever made by academics.

It's still talked about a lot. It's still the topic of a lot of conversations, especially right now,

and it's a show that I think just gets better and better with age. Now, a couple of years ago,

on Patreon, right at the beginning of the first lockdown, early 2020, Becky Dark and I began

a Buffy the Vampire Slayer rewatch, and we essentially launched a little Patreon mini-series

where we went through every single season of the show. So what I thought I would do today to

celebrate the 25th anniversary of Buffy is to drop episode one of that exclusive Patreon mini-series.

Episode one was a kind of overview of the whole of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Me and Becky talk

about why we love the show, what it means to us, a little bit about the history and the

evolution of Buffy as a TV show, as a character, some of its influences, and the legacy that it

left behind. This episode is completely spoiler-free, so anybody can listen to this if you're a Buffy
