Summary

What is an “Urban special”?

It is when Urban Meyer is an underdog – or just doubted in general – and he makes your team look like the junior varsity playing the Division I state champions.

Let’s be honest: It happened to Ohio State in the 2006 national championship game when Meyer’s Florida squad handed the Buckeyes a 41-14 defeat.

And it sure happened on Saturday when Meyer’s Ohio State squad dismantled Michigan and its No. 1-ranked defense 62-39. Which included the Buckeyes taking a knee at the 7-yard line in the closing moments to not rub it in.

Alex Gleitman joins Dave Biddle for today’s show to look back on The Game, look ahead to the matchup against Northwestern in the Big Ten Championship Game this Saturday in Indianapolis, talk about OSU’s chances to make the College Football Playoff, and Wyatt Davis replacing the injured Demetrius Knox as Ohio State’s starting right guard.

All of that and more on the Monday extravaganza.

62 to 39 Alex, I just just nobody saw this coming if they said they saw this coming they're lying and it should have been 69 to 39 if urban didn't take us

1:00.7

some sympathy on them late in the game and kneel at the seven just your reaction

1:04.8

to the buck has best performance of the season by far. I mean certainly not

1:09.2

expected I predicted Michigan 30 to 27 in this one. I just, you know, I thought Ohio State had a chance to win. I obviously knew they have the talent. I knew how important they took this game. I just, like the way this year is going, I just didn't,'m speechless I just I didn't I didn't think

1:25.8

that they could do that I I said to some friends throughout the week I said wouldn't

1:30.0

it be great if we got like an urban special like we know it as 4114 but where they just

1:34.5

come out and kick butt and I just said I with this team I just can't see it I think you

1:39.8

know tight end throwbacks and you know the Shay Patterson RPO and things like that would be

1:45.6

you know hurting this defense but the defense was I think they were pretty good I know they

1:50.5

get up 39 points but for the most part they were pretty good.

1:53.4

I think if the game was closer I think they would have stepped up. I think they kind of

1:57.2

let off a little bit you know as Ohio State clearly got a decisive lead but you know I

2:01.8

thought the defense played really well especially early on I thought

2:04.7

the offensive game plan was tremendous Ryan Day gets a ton of credit there Kevin Wilson as well

2:09.2

and obviously urban Myers involved there and you know these guys just came out and they played the way

2:13.9

they're capable of and I'd love to see them do it again this week against

2:16.5

Northwestern and at least make it a conversation for the committee whether they should be
