Good morning Bucks owners. It is Tuesday, December 4th, 2018. I am Dan Rubin. This is the

Bucks Morning 5 and Change. We will be joined momentarily by Duane Long, but this is a huge day in Ohio State history. Urban Meyer has

announced his retirement from coaching football. He will be replaced by

offensive coordinator Ryan Day. This is not a huge shock given the goings on of the last

let's say six months or so. Here's the official word from the university. There will

be a press conference at 2 p.m. today with Senior Vice President and Wolf Foundation

endowed athletic director Gene Smith, head football coach Urban Meyer and offensive coordinator

and quarterback's Coach Ryan Day.

Myra will use the press comments to formally announce his retirement from coaching following

Ohio State's appearance in the Rose Bowl game.

And Smith will name Day as the 25th head coach in the history of the program beginning January 2nd.

Dwayne, you woke up to the news, I'm not going to say it was the most shocking thing you've ever heard I'm sure your initial reaction to the end of the urban Meyer era in Columbus.

Well I guess that's the one thing that I would say is that it's just not a surprise, Dan.

I mean, we just kind of, you know, you and I have talked privately about it and you know, I don't think either one of us are really that shocked. I thought it could happen, didn't want it to happen. But, you know, it's, it's still

a shock. That it's just the reality that he's gone.

You know, it's, uh, I saw it when I first woke up and I, uh, wow, urban fire is gone.

Yeah, I mean I didn't hear me, yeah I've been hearing stuff for a while from people that I trust. I mean nothing to go to print

with or it's worth rabble rousing about, but I'm like you and that I did not want him to step down.

That's a personal thing.
