Summary

Ohio State is fairly banged up through five games, which is to be expected when playing a violent sport like football. But are the Buckeyes beginning to get healthier overall as a team? You could make that argument, but there are also several players whose statuses remain up in the air as OSU heads to Michigan State on Saturday (4 p.m. ET; ABC).

Head coachĀ Ryan DayĀ said he is hoping thatĀ Jaxon Smith-Njigba,Ā Cameron BrownĀ andĀ TreVeyon HendersonĀ will play against the Spartans. He also mentionedĀ Jordan HancockĀ is back practicing at full speed, but they are going to be cautious with him and hold him out until at least after the bye week next week.Ā Kourt WilliamsĀ has been able to play a little bit, but defensive coordinatorĀ Jim KnowlesĀ mentioned on Tuesday that Williams is banged up and they need to get him fully healthy.

Speaking of Knowles, entering the season Day said his expectation was for the Buckeyes to have a top-10 defense. Well, guess what? Ohio State is ranked exactly 10th in the country in total defense. How 'bout that?

Also, what do we think of the matchup against Michigan State with OSU favored by 26.5 points?

All of that and much more is coming your way on the Wednesday 5ish as Dave Biddle flies solo.

0:35.2

today's show a lot to get into when I mainly focus on the Buckeyes health

0:40.4

situation Ryan Day doesn't like talking a lot about injuries but he kind of

0:45.3

reversed course yesterday was was pretty open about it now I'm sure he's not

0:49.5

telling us everything in the world specifically about these guys let's get

0:53.1

into I thought overall what I took away from the press conference yesterday

0:57.5

was a positive vibe you know obviously five games into a season playing a

1:01.5

violent sport they're going to be injuries but it felt like maybe the Buckeyes

1:04.4

had more than their share of injuries but some good news here we're going to

1:09.0

get into that first thing Jordan Hancock you know Ryan Day said a few weeks

1:13.9

ago that the injury Jordan Hancock suffered in camp he didn't specify what it

1:18.2

was but he did say quote it was a significant injury so Ryan Day said that

1:22.7

Jordan Hancock suffered a significant injury in camp basically indicated that

1:28.3

they're fortunate it wasn't season ending you know or even almost season

1:33.7

ending but he hasn't played yet this year and but he is now back practicing at

1:38.9

full speed and the hope is they're gonna get him back after the by-week against

1:43.5

Iowa I might hold him out until Penn State speaking of holding out guys at

1:48.4

least until Penn State that might return we'll get to that in a minute but good

1:52.3

to hear that Hancock's practicing at full speed won't play this week against

1:55.9

Michigan State hoping to get him back after the by although just get him back

2:01.3

by Penn State because Iowa I mean you can throw the you can probably throw the
