Cleveland Police are not participating in a countywide crime solving effort.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine will not take a stand on the death penalty,

and the Ohio presidential primary is less than five

weeks away where are the candidates it's the wake up from Cleveland.com for

dot com editor Chris Quinn. Cleveland Police are the lone holdout in a years

long county-wide effort that would help police departments share crime data and solve crimes.

Cleveland.com's Adam Ferreise reports that city police reports and from all of the police departments in Cayahoga County, save one.

This system was the idea of Cayahoga County Executive Armand-Butish,

who recognized that having separate crime record systems in every city

was not conducive to solving crime.

He designed the new system and invited everyone to participate.

Everyone did, except Cleveland. But without Cleveland, suburban police cannot access

key information that would help them solve cases or strategize.

The irony here is that Cleveland has just asked for access to the system to help it solve crime.

Governor Mike DeWine refuses to publicly say whether he still supports the death

penalty. That simple fact is the basis for a story by Cleveland.com's

Jeremy Pelzer, who tried to get to the bottom of DeWines' coy behavior. Executions are one of the biggest problems that DeWine has had to address

during his first year as governor. Last year, DeWine froze all Ohio executions indefinitely in response to the state's continuing

problems in finding drugs for use in lethal injections.

When reporters asked the wine about his personal views, he usually dodges the question.
