The Senator from Texas went for a brief, I think two day trip to the Ritz Carlton in Cancude, Mexico,

which is not all that far from Houston.

He went for a trip to Mexico to get away from the cold and the terrible storm and the power outages

and the freezing temperatures and everything that have been in Texas.

Now, if he were the governor of Texas, if he were the mayor of Houston, if he were a state senator or assemblyman or whatever,

if you were the local dog catcher, I might understand people viewing this as some kind of dereliction of duty.

He's the United States senator. His power is all based in the federal government in DC.

What exactly is the awful crime here? I'm seeing Republicans that are piling on.

Does it look good? No, it doesn't look good. I understand the optics of this are, you know, you stand with your people as a politician.

But some of us recognize that that's also just not true.

Politicians actually live in mansions, they fly private, they don't really suffer the way the rest of us suffer it.

As much as they pretend they do, they don't.
