Hey, welcome to the buck sexton show. We have much to discuss, including a great week in the Supreme Court for Liberty and the Constitution.

0:21.5

But it's also a reminder of how insane the left has gotten and how much they really do want totalitarianism will discuss plus rfk junior.

0:31.0

Very good on covid where we see on other issues like affirmative action which also was in the Supreme Court decisions this week we shall address that and then.

0:40.5

Because it is independence day weekend the greatest independence day weekend films of all time as in the best ones to see over independence day weekend or the ones that have some kind of an actual tie into independence day weekend we'll get into all that here coming up in just a second let's talk about the Supreme Court decisions the biggest one affirmative action but then also.

1:01.5

So you had a religious freedom case in Colorado and Biden's give away on student loans gets shot down let's start with the affirmative action component of this for a moment.

1:14.5

The most important thing with this is to just look very clear forget all the noise forget the talking points forget what people on the left and the Democrats and the establishment and all that say about this.

1:28.0

And just lean forward yourself look at what's going on and come to the most obvious conclusion racial discrimination is wrong looking at someone skin color and making any determination about them whatsoever is wrong giving someone a benefit because of their skin color wrong taking away a benefit because of a skin color wrong you should just look at people as people if the equal protection clause of the Constitution is to have any meaning.

1:57.0

It should be that right this is the most straightforward thing imaginable there's all this talk you'll see and it was in the is a six three decision right that striking down for UNC Chapel Hill and also or the UNC system and Harvard University the system that they had that was discriminating specifically against Asians which I think made this also very clear because the Democrats talk about this and they say well what about the legacy of slavery and the oppression by law.

2:26.0

Of blacks after slavery was finally abolished and all about is true all that was wrong and it was a stain on this country's history but it hasn't been the case for a long time and affirmative action goes well beyond issues of black and white individuals applying to college it also affects Hispanics they get points they get a benefit from it it affects Asians they get negative points if you will they get treated also a lot of people.

2:55.0

Treat it also is other as though Asian is an ethnicity think about how obtuse that is this actually came up in I believe it was the Roberts opinion of the court the notion that an Asian is an Asian when you talk for the purposes of college admissions when you're when you're including in that massive land mass someone from South Korea is treated as being you know for all intents and purposes of college admission very similar to some

3:25.0

somebody from Pakistan right someone from Kazakhstan is in the same category as somebody from Vietnam somebody from China somebody from India I mean you start to look at this and you say that's just completely insane the differences you you find people that are as different as any groups of people around the world under Asia as an overall overarching concept it's absurd what the left has been doing is wrong and everybody knows it.

3:55.0

But now they're upset about it now it's all what about all the discrimination that's going to continue there's also the perception that was rooted in the reality that anybody of a certain ethnicity who graduated from the most elite colleges may well have received tremendous benefit in the application process and that means that people look at them and they think differently right if you see a Native American who went to Harvard you think yours look at Elizabeth Warren faking.

4:25.0

Being a Native American why did she do that right so she could teach at Harvard but you look at somebody who's Native American and you say to yourself a lot of people would say to themselves I wonder what that person actually got in the SATs I wonder what benefit he or she may have gotten in the application process and what's what's fascinating is that the left says how dare you and you say well if how dare I is that what's going on or not you see what they want to do is they want to change standards because they say it is necessary to change the

4:55.0

standards but we're not allowed to point out that they're changing standards and this is the game they play at a whole range of different things they do this also with a military with male and female right we're not changing the standards so that women can be in combat roles they always end up changing the standards and then when you say you guys are changing the standards you know what they do they say why are you a big it or why are you a sexist or you're a bad person because they can't win on the argument because it's emotional for them it's the political tribalism of my side wants to do this so it doesn't matter what you're doing.

5:25.0

What's true I have to push from my side that is their approach to this full stop that is the full on reality so I think it's important that we understand what's really going on here.

5:40.0

Affirmative action is not done and over with as a result of this Harvard has already pointed out that there's some loophole they're going to try to use here a people writing about their battles with racism and this is what I would advise for people of course.

5:55.0

I'm applying to colleges all across the country now for elite schools in particular slightly less of an issue for schools that have a 60 or 70% acceptance rate right but for schools that have a 3% or 5% acceptance rate or whatever my advice would be come up with a narrative that will work talk about your struggles with racism doesn't matter what race you are how they're going to know.

6:19.0

Just come up with something come up with some story.

6:22.3

Use this as an opportunity to get into the gears of this discriminatory system and bring the whole thing to a halt because if they're going to say well now you don't have to submit your SATs don't submit your SATs and talk about your struggles with whatever whatever you think is going to work.

6:38.0

They can't get inside your head that's what this is all about anyway because they're telling you very clearly well you know what's more important that you got great grades and we're a leader in your class and or you know a stellar athlete etc etc or you check a box for us that allows us to have more diversity in the classroom.

6:59.0

You can either play the system or let the system play you so I think people should game the system for college admissions now and every way they can without.
