Welcome to the Buck Brief, the Biden administration to push Israel for pauses in its war against

Hamas.

Different than an all-out ceasefire.

Let me explain what's going on here and how I think this is

likely to play out in the days ahead. So Anthony Blinken has, the Secretary of State has

announced that this is now the new Biden administration request

of Israel, that they will have multiple periods

of what they're calling pause, which I guess just means a very short

ceasefire for humanitarian purposes, or they're calling it a humanitarian pause.

Now calling it a humanitarian pause. Now this I suppose is supposed to limit the civilian casualties, allow for the evacuation of some civilian casualties for

the humanitarian corridors to be able to deliver aid to civilians, food, water, medicine.

And all of that, I think, is good, makes sense.

And I can understand the imperative for this, but I have to wonder, what will this do in

terms of allowing Hamas to regroup, to refit.

What will this do to mess up the Israeli plans here

to destroy Hamas leadership to capture or kill
