The athletic football show. Today's Friday, September 24th. I'm Robert Mays. Fun show for you guys today. Shook Pottie is going to be joining us a little bit later to do our weekly pick segment. Nate Anshiel went two and one last week. So we are trending in the right direction. Before we get to that, though,

thrilled to welcome my good buddy, Nate Tyson. How you doing, man? I've never been happier at going 66% in my entire life. I've never, never once in my life. I mean, baseball, but it's like,

you know, but it's, I've never been happier that I was this past weekend. And so that's, did. Did you play baseball?

I did.

Actually, baseball was my best sport growing up. And then, yeah, night. How long did you play baseball? Till my sophomore year. And then I was exact same. Yep. And then basketball wasn't that good at. So I was just a rebounder defense guy. But it's and then also I was like, hey, I like this quarterback stuff.

And then that took it to a whole new level.

But up until about ninth grade, baseball was my favorite sport. Arod was my favorite player growing up, like all that stuff. Love the Mariners. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Those early 2000s Mariners teams hit you at the exact right, exact right moment. Like you would have been in seventh grade where so so so yes

i went to that also yeah uh yeah going in the seventh grade so i had i had the late 90s

Vikings so i had the 98 Vikings I had the our mid 90s late 90s sonics that like challenged

the bowls and 96 bowls at one year.

I had, uh, and then I would cheer for the Mariners when they had Griffey, Edgar Martinez, Jay Buneer, Joey Corr, Arod, Randy Johnson, all these just one after another star. So I was like, and then they went 116 games in 2001. I'm like, sports is great. Nothing bad ever happens in sports. Also cool teams. Like teams like when we look back on it a decade later, it's like that team was cool. Like I had the 90s bulls, but no one's like, oh man, the bulls were cool. Like that is not a thing. They're the bulls. But the 90s Sonics, those Vikings teams. Yes. You know why? Because teams remain cool when they don't win championships. That's how, we look back on them fondly for that exact reason. Because you can be a hipster about it. You'd be like, no, I like that team. Because everyone can love the champ. Everyone likes the champ. I know. That's what, yeah, I completely agree. I know. I was cheering for Rainy Moss and Ken Griffey Jr. and Kevin Garnett. Because when I moved to Minnesota, I of my favorite athletes of all time. All at the same time. It was the best. It was the best. And then, yeah, things have, things have gone up and down since then in my sports fandom life. Well, yeah, we'll get to the pick segment a little bit later. All right. As we do every Friday this season, we're here with the Friday five. We're picking five things that we are looking at this week. Could be a player. Could be a matchup. Could be a game.
