A repetitive reminder that Bubba's first season's really gone.

The leaves have started turning. My ponies coat is getting thick.

The days are getting shorter, and the frost will be here quick.

There's a cricket in the corner. His racket will not quit.

I'd blame him for my sleepless night, but I really must admit

that cowboys lie awake at night, and we worry about the snow.

Were there be enough feed for the nights when it's 35 below?

There's a cricket in the corner. I'll just let his serenade.

Lull me to sleep to dream about summer. C.S. does lying in the shade.

There's just no use in fretting about what winter will send my way.

We'll deal with it, and we'll get through it.

Because that's the cowboy way.

That was an adaptation of cricket in the corner,

a poem by a cowboy poet, Steve Lucas, that I thought was appropriate

for the end of season one of Bubba's Shot The Podcast,

in which the song we are doing should have been a cowboy by Toby Keese.

I recognize that most welfare ed fans hate Toby Keese.

That's fine. I don't care for him myself.

The song, however, is a masterpiece.
