Let's just start with some basics, normal distributions.

When we talk about a normal distribution, what we're talking about is a sample of data

points that form a symmetric bell shaped curve, right?

So if we say that we're looking at all the data points that are within one standard deviation

of the mean, what percent of the sample is that?

So that's usually about two-thirds to 68 percent.

Exactly.

And what about two standard deviations?

When you get to two standard deviations, it's about 95 percent.
