| 1:07.0 | Hey, so I think the thing that's really obvious to anybody who's joining us and looking at your background, |
| 1:13.0 | and I'm sure this is always the first question you get when you're talking to people is, what caused the transition? |
| 1:18.0 | You were a medical doctor, and now you run your own hedge fund. |
| 1:22.0 | Back story time, yeah. So I started in college. I loved investing, and I wanted to be a doctor, and I needed to make a decision. |
| 1:30.0 | And so I decided to be a doctor, obviously. |
| 1:33.0 | And once you go down that pathway, you're stuck on that pathway, if you kind of know how that works. |
| 1:37.0 | I did my kind of pre-med course work in college, got to med school, did four years in medical school, and then I did six years in residency and fellowship, finished that in 2008. |
| 1:47.0 | So when I finished that, I was a board-certified diagnostic radiologist and a fellowship trained interventional radiologist. |
| 1:54.0 | The latter is basically image guided minimally invasive surgery. |
| 1:58.0 | So when I got out, the job market was fantastic. I couldn't move anywhere in the US pretty much that we wanted. |
| 2:03.0 | So my wife and I talked about it, we thought Colorado. We grew up in Minnesota, did our training in Milwaukee, and we always have loved the rocking mountains. |
| 2:11.0 | And so first chance we came out here. And so I've been out in Colorado Springs since 2008. |
| 2:16.0 | Probably about a year into private practice medicine. I remembered that I loved investing. |
| 2:21.0 | And so I started a blog at that time teaching people how to invest on their own. |
| 2:25.0 | Did that for like a year or two, and first I got picked up by a motley fool and started writing for them, and then I started doing stuff for seeking alpha. |
