Yeah, there is one of the two main superstars that were for some reason not signed, signed.

Can I ask you something?

So, all right, there are two huge deals.

One was Mani Machado with the Padres, 10 years, $300 million.

The other one was Bryce Harper with the Phillies.

He was apparently not scared off

by the toughness and scrappitude of Philly. And he signed for 13 fucking years at, I believe,

$335 million. So my question to you, Roth, as a resident baseball knower, is, did these guys

signed for so long just because they could, and, you know, obviously, you know,

it's a good deal for you if you make $300 million over 10 years?

Or did they also know that if they took a shorter contract,

that economic odds for them as players would not be as favorable later on?

I think it's a little bit from column A and a little bit from column B.

Like, obviously, you don't have to be like a super adept business mind to realize that guaranteeing yourself $300 million over the next 10 years is like,

it's a B plus at least as a decision for personal

finances but I you know I wonder about that because I think the part of what they had to

sell to teams as players beyond obviously the fact that they're both like generational talents on

Hall of Fame tracks is that the next so

they're 26 both of them and right the next you know three years of their career generally going to
