Summary
#248. Bryan Rolfe is a grass-roots 30-something cruiser with big dreams and a small budget. He's been documenting his adventures aboard his 27-foot Albin Vega TARKA on YouTube, and is currently in the Caribbean. Mia & I have followed Bryan from afar since he started his trip, and my conversation with him ended up being a very inspirational look at how someone takes a dream and turns it into reality. Longtime fans of the show will know how excited I get talking to other young folks out there cruising, but this episode is truly for anyone who dreams of heading off in their own boat, no matter your age or finiancial situation. Bryan truly started from scratch, and tells the whole inspiring story of how he made his dreams reality.

| 0:00.0 | Hey guys, Andy here. Welcome back to the show. I'm recording this the day before it comes out, |
| 0:05.2 | and I'm in a pretty special place right now. I am sitting on the bow of the Off Chapman, |
| 0:10.1 | one of Sweden's old clipper ships that they have, it's still fully rigged. It's sitting in |
| 0:15.7 | Stockholm Harbor, and they've turned it into a hostel. It's a special place for me because when I |
| 0:20.6 | got married back in 2011, |
| 0:23.0 | a bunch of my friends that came over from the U.S. to the wedding, we took them into the city for a day, |
| 0:27.7 | and all of us, I think there was like 20 of us booked rooms on the ship. So you can actually |
| 0:32.1 | stay on board in the ship cabins. And I've come back here like once a year maybe when I'm in town. Mia happens to be |
| 0:40.2 | in Rome right now on vacation with a girlfriend to hers. So I'm on my own and decided to come into |
| 0:44.7 | Stockholm for the day and to stay on the ship. So I'm just doing some work tonight. It's a really |
| 0:50.5 | inspiring place to work though. I've got my own little cabin. It's got a little writing desk on at a porthole that I can open and see the outside. Stockholm is known for its views over the |
| 1:01.0 | waterfront, but I think this is the coolest view of all from the deck of this old square |
| 1:07.9 | rigor. It's also appropriate because the reason I'm in the city today is I got another tattoo, |
| 1:13.3 | number six for me, and it's another sort of old school, nautical-inspired tattoo of, |
| 1:19.0 | to represent our time up in Svalbard at 80 degrees north. |
| 1:22.7 | So you can check out that on the show notes of today's episode. |
| 1:27.2 | A couple quick announcements. |
| 1:28.6 | We have finalized the details of the talk we're giving in Mustron. |
| 1:31.8 | So those of you that are listening from Sweden, it is going to be sponsored by Rutgersen. |
| 1:36.1 | Doors are going to open at 6 p.m. I think. |
| 1:39.2 | And it's going to cost 100 kroner per person to show up, basically just a fee so we know who's coming. |
| 1:45.8 | So you can go online to 59-north.com slash events and sign up for that it's a pretty big room i think it holds over 200 people |
