I'm your host, retired NYPD, Sergeant Bill Cannon, the 27-year veteran of the NYPD.

So today, an exciting day in a way, disappointing for many, a lot of questions to be asked.

Apparently, today is the day that Brian Koberger, who we've been covering since November 13, 2022,

in the horrific murders of the Idaho four, as they've been called, Madison Mogan,

Kali Gonzalez, Ethan Chapin, and Azana Connoodle.

And we've all been following this case.

And Judge Hippler, the judge who made a lot of tough decisions in this case,

and of course using case law, case law to make these decisions,

I think that is what pushed the defense,

Ann Taylor and her defense team, to approach Bill Thompson sometime last week

and consider this plea deal. And there is one reason why, and you may be against the death

penalty, but there is one good reason to have the death penalty on the books.

And in this case, it demonstrates that because it acted as a bargaining chip.

Brian Koeberger and most defendants don't want to be put to death.

So the prosecution used the death penalty to bring the defense to the table and to negotiate.

And the defense had no cards.

They had no aces.

They had no kings.

They had no queens.

They had to go there humbly towards Bill Thompson.

And look what they're getting in return or allegedly getting it.
