Taylor Swift scientific music video ranking. We did the Old Testament the last time, albums 1 through 6.

Now we're doing New Testament Taylor, so 7 through 11. And there's less videos to analyze. But before we

Part one, I was watching the music videos and saying, oh, remember when? Oh, wow. Like even the music videos, I didn't really like that much i was like oh this is so

cute remember when everybody's making gif sets on tumbler to this video so cute and i had a really

good time doing it and like reflecting on everything this uh new testament i wasn't cheering i wasn't cheering

the thing is the tailoring music videos are uh you know good to great with a few flops, pretty much all the way through reputation. And then Lover, which is incidentally where we're starting, is when everything starts to really go downhill.

Well, this is when Taylor said, written by Taylor Swift, starring Taylor Swift directed by Taylor's of Craft Services by Taylor Swift. She said, I'm doing it all.

And it was kind of compelling to me how from when she very first started doing it on Lover to now with Life of a Showgirl, the same issues that I think she has as a director are presenting themselves. So one has to ask if we haven't really meaningfully improved our capabilities from 2019 to

2026, do we need someone else to just assist?

Yeah, at this point, it's like I understand her quest to have everything be done by her, her, her. Like, I totally get it. But would they be more creatively fulfilling to bring in another mind to seize things differently and can execute a vision in a way that you wouldn't have thought of? Not even a matter of like, oh, he's better or he or she is better, but like they are somebody who is just different and has a different viewpoint than you and can make something different than a lot of these videos, because my main issue with like looking at them as a whole thing, it's a lot of the same issues going on. It's a lot of this. And it's also a lot of the same ideas and the same kinds of concepts being put up again and again in different wigs. And the fun part about having so many different directors on those early music videos is that they're all really different from each other. And it gives every era a completely different visual mark. And I would say that things stop being so distinct when Taylor starts being the sole creative voice behind the visuals.

Yeah. And I mean, it kind of makes sense that that would be the case. It's like, you know, she has a really vast ability to chameleon herself when it comes to genre, when it comes to her songwriting.

Like she can definitely change up her vibe and like the

albums all feel totally unique from one another but that's music when it comes to directing and like

making the visuals i find that i don't think she's as um what's the word i'm thinking of

as vast capability.
