Here are some of today's top stories from the Los Angeles Times.

We begin with an update on last week's shooting at Brown University.

Late Thursday night, officials said a series of tips led them to a storage unit in New

Hampshire where the suspected gunman was found dead.

Five days after police say he opened fire inside a university lecture hall, killing two students and injuring nine others.

An individual was identified as Claudio Nevis Valenti.

Date of birth and he was a 48-year-old man.

He was a brown student.

He was a Portuguese national. And his last known address was in Miami, Florida.

For days, frustration had been growing in Providence, Rhode Island, home to Brown University, as the

search for the shooter continued with few leads. But authorities said a post on Reddit allowed them

to track down Valenti in New Hampshire.

Authorities also connected him to the killing of an MIT professor who was shot Monday inside his home in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Once we were able to identify him, you know, thanks to that individual who came forward, who led us to a plate, which led us to a rental car, which led us to a, that you rented that car in his own name, that really broke the case open.

Police then interviewed the Reddit user who described a suspicious car that he'd seen on Brown's campus just hours before the attack.

I remember last night watching his interview, and he blew this case right open.

He blew it open.

The tip led investigators to a rental car company in Boston, allowing them to trail Valenti,

despite his efforts to switch the vehicle's license plates.

He was sophisticated in hiding his tracks. After reviewing security footage, police say the same car was spotted near the home of the MIT professor on Monday.
