Authorities say the Brown University shooting suspect has been found dead after taking his own life.

Police identified the suspect as Claudio Neves-Valente, a 48-year-old former Brown University student and Portuguese National.

He was found at a storage facility in Salem, New Hampshire.

What cracked the case open was an interview with a person who, while not a suspect, authorities

had been trying to find and had released a photo of. Here's Rhode Island's Attorney General.

He blew this case right open.

That person led us to the car, which led us to the name, which led us to the photographs

of that individual renting the car, which matched the clothing of our shooter here in Providence.

Nevis Valenti attended Brown University as a graduate student in the early 2000s.

He then took a leave of absence before formally withdrawing in 2003.

He had no active affiliation with the university.

Prosecutors say Neves Valente is also responsible for the killing of an MIT professor

days after the Brown University attack, adding he attended the same academic program as the professor

in Portugal in the 90s. Investigators say Neves-Valente was, quote, sophisticated in hiding

his tracks and is believed to have used an untraceable phone and avoided credit cards in his own name.

Police say they are still seeking the suspect's motive in the brown shooting.
