our family and to our friends.

That was Sherrell Griner, speaking at a rally in Phoenix on Wednesday night, imploring

the president of the United States to do everything in his power to bring her wife, Brittany Griner,

home.

But Brittany Griner herself just hours later would plead guilty in a Russian courtroom,

raising questions about what that means for her case and her status as wrongfully detained.

So today, TJ Quinn explains why the WMBA star chose to plead guilty and what the United

States might have to give up to bring Brittany Griner home.

So TJ Brittany Griner pleaded guilty in Russian court yesterday, months after she had been

arrested back in February at an airport outside of Moscow for bringing small amounts of

hashish oil in a vague cartridge into the country.

And she had been trying to enter the country because she plays basketball in Russia in the

Phoenix Mercury off season, like lots of WMBA stars do.
