Summary

On today’s show, Dane is joined by Britt Robson from MinnPost to discuss Britt’s most-recent column on the reffing disaster against Boston on Wednesday, the consistently-.500 Wolves and Rudy Gobert’s play of late. Discussion today starts with the Boston game but extends to really a big picture discussion of the Wolves 70 games into the season. Topics include... — How the refs lost control of the Boston game — Rudy Gobert’s play of late, and how the ways they use Gobert is constantly evolving — The differences between how Utah defended 5-out offense with Gobert versus how Minnesota is defending that offensive look — The vastly different natures of when Rudy Gobert is on the floor versus when Naz Reid is on the floor — Mike Conley as a guidance counselor — Difference between Conley and D’Angelo Russell Sign up today for a 14-day free trial of Aura’s digital security at Aura.com/Dane Learn more about your ad choices. Coming at you Thursday afternoon, it's March 16th after the Wolves 104-102 loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday evening.

She dropped the wolves back down to 570 games into the season. 12 games to go. I'm joined by

0:32.1

Britt Robson from Minpost today. And Britt, after having had the chance to rewatch last night's game this morning

0:39.8

because we had a little bit, we're recording this a little bit later in the day than we normally do.

0:44.8

I'm actually excited to talk about it and not just the rest.

0:47.7

We'll talk about that too.

0:49.1

But rewatching the game reminded me that a lot more happened in that game than just the dysfunction

0:55.5

of the end of it that was obviously on the front of the mind of everyone who watched that game.

1:13.4

game. That is my number one thing that bothers me. Kind of the only thing that really

1:18.8

bothers me about refs night tonight is when you can tell they've lost control of the game. I thought

1:24.4

that happened in the beginning of the third quarter and you kind of felt the trickle-down effect of that the rest of the game. I thought that happened at the beginning of the third quarter,

1:34.3

and you kind of felt the trickle-down effect of that the rest of the night, particularly at the very end of the game. So you started your column off with that. You even got the official MBA rulebook

1:40.2

out to quote a few times in your column. So I'll let you take the lead on describing what

1:46.2

went down late in that game. Well, I mean, first to your point, the rest can lose control of the game

1:53.5

two different ways. It used to be that refs would more often lose control of the game by not

2:00.5

being tight enough or bringing up the leash

2:04.1

when it was necessary and things would get long to not on the court. More recently, and certainly

2:13.7

last night, it was because they overreacted.

2:17.8

They began to get much more tickey tack with their calls, at the same time being more subjective with their calls.
