Coming at Thursday morning, it's January 12th after the wolves lost in Detroit on Wednesday evening.

Of course, this is their second loss to the Pistons in their last six games, which is not great,

considering the Pistons only have 12 wins all season.

But that's kind of who the wolves have been this year, consistently inconsistent.

That's what we're going to talk about today.

They were five and five, ten games into the season, ten and ten, twenty games into the season,

15 and 15, 30 games into the season, and then 20 and 21 at the halfway point before the loss to Detroit last night.

I stole that stat from Britt Robson's Wednesday column up at MinPost Britt.

Knowing this team is consistently inconsistent and knowing that they've lost numerous games in a similar effort-based fashion this season.

I mean, do you take this loss to be par for the course or, I don't know, maybe something more problematic?

Well, par for the course is problematic right now.

I think that the simple way to say it is this team lacks character. It does not understand the consistency and sustainment of effort required to be a good team.

It doesn't have that leadership.

The top four guys in the pecking order, five guys, what if you want to call it,

don't have that leadership gene of essentially taking names, kicking ass.

The coach doesn't have it.

He's not that type of coach.

So the need for outside influence to inspire or spark or threaten or whatever, you know, tools are necessary to focus this ball club and get them to understand the stakes involved has been absent almost all season.

And it is as simple as looking back to the role Patrick Beverly played last year.

Everybody swore by it from Nas Reed to Delo to Kat up and down the pecking order, people said that this guy

made a huge difference in the way we approached the game and how we sustain our anger,
