This interview is so, so important. It's about a big, big question. Could British citizens really be arrested and prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity committed because of Israel's onslaught against Gaza?

0:15.9

Now, you may think it sounds far-fetched, given the impunity long enjoyed by Israel and indeed the role of the British

0:21.8

state in arming and facilitating Israel's genocide. But a legal team have launched a major legal case

0:28.4

submitting a detailed report to the Metropolitan Police against 10 British individuals for

0:34.2

alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

0:44.2

This comes in the context of a broader set of legal challenges, both in individual countries and, of course, for example, the International Criminal Court issuing arrest warrants

0:49.4

for Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister and and his former Defence Minister, Yov Gallant.

report comes, or then is certainly situated within the context of a much wider solidarity

1:18.4

movement. We've seen protests up and down the country, people turning out in tens of thousands

1:23.9

a week in week out to protest the current state of affairs in Gaza, and more

1:29.6

broadly, the occupation and the situation in Palestine. States have systematically failed

1:36.7

the Palestinian people, and when that happens, it falls on civil society and lawyers to do what

1:41.2

they can, I think, to provide accountability.

1:46.6

But for us in this report, we are very much lawyers.

1:50.5

And so although the report is situated within that broader context, for us, it's about

1:55.4

following the evidence, and that's what we did here.
