My name is Juliet Jakes, standing in for Alex while he's on a well-deserved break, and my guest

today is James Schneider. We talked about Jeremy Corbyn and Zara Sultanan's decision to start a new

left-wing political party in Britain, why it seems necessary at this time, and the tactical reasons

for launching it rather than joining the Greens or to continue to work as independent

MPs.

We also discussed the needs to rebuild the left social institutions and its potential media strategy.

We looked at how this new mass party might distinguish itself from other, smaller left-wing

parties that have emerged throughout British history, and how it differs from

the last new party to launch with such media fanfare, the much-miss-changed UK.

James Schneider co-founded Momentum in 2015 and became Labour's Director of Strategic Communications a year
