Camilla, as we record, Donald Trump has announced a ceasefire that could stretch for five days with Iran.

Now, nothing says peace like a truth social post written entirely in capital letters with spelling mistakes.

Yes.

But this is a dramatic climb down.

Remember that over the weekend, the president signalled that he was willing to send

American troops to try and take Kag Island. Yes, on the ground. Troops on the ground. Boots on the

ground. The sort of thing that he has always said he never wanted to do and that everyone wants to

avoid, I guess you can't take it off the table completely because then your enemy knows that you

have a limit. But Kag Island, very important for the exporting of oil.

It is the lifeline of the Iranian economy.

Iran has played its one Trump card, which has been to stop exports of oil from coming out

of the Strait of Hormuz.

And I guess that American military planners were thinking, if we could just take that island back and secure the transfer of oil, then we could cut off the one thing that Iran has to use against us.

The problem with that is if you take the island, the Iranians can fire you from the shore.
