cities across this country that's just been forgotten and left behind.

And we're losing greatness

and somebody has I do best.

Like I wonder how change really happens for a system or a country.

I also wonder a lot how people change.

asks the same question. How does change really happen? Today I'm wondering about people who grow up in and around violence and how they somehow manage to let down their guard and live without arms, without gangs. I have two guests.

They both work for advanced peace, an organization dedicated to ending gun violence in America one person at a time.

My first guest is Sam Vaughn.

He's going to tell his story about coming out of San Quentin,

where he went for attempted murder, and how through observation

and self-reflection and real curiosity he transformed himself into a community leader.

who founded Advanced Peace to help hundreds of young people,
