U.S. diplomats visited Gaza, where Palestinians continue to die

from an Israeli-imposed lack of food.

Hezbollah said it would not disarm.

Today is Sunday, August 3.

It is day 667 of the war in Gaza, where at least 60,430 Palestinians have died.

On Friday, the U.S. is representative in mediation efforts between

Hamas and Israel visited Gaza. Talks broke down again last month. This is Al Jazeera's Hoda

Abdul-Hamid. A fact-finding mission conducted under heavy security.

U.S. Special Envoy Steve Whitkoff visited one of the food distribution sites run by the controversial Gaza Humanitarian Foundation near Ruffa.

Whitkoff said he spent five hours on the ground assessing the food and medical needs of the

population.

He might have listened, but what the envoy didn't hear is the sound of gunfire ringing out

at another distribution center operated by the Israeli and U.S.-backed organization.

Nor did he see the chaos when Palestinians driven by hunger once again

brave the dangers that come with just trying to get something to eat if anything

the visit by Steve Whitkoff underlined the weight of the global outcry in the

face of this man made starvation he will now brief the U.S. President.

In the meantime, more children are likely to starve to death

while their parents risk their lives searching for food.
