The conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon escalated. Israel shut down Al Jazeera's Bureau in the occupied West Bank. U.S. presidential

On Saturday, the Israeli military said it launched 400 attacks against Hezbollah,

capping off a week of escalation by Israel inside Lebanon.

On Sunday, Hezbollah fired rockets further into Israel than at any time since the two sides began trading fire last October.

Sunday morning, Hezbollah carried out an hour's long sustained assault on targets in northern

Israel as well as in central Israel, hitting for the first time 50 kilometers south of the border.

That's the furthest strike yet in the ongoing 11 months of confrontations.

Hezbollah saying that it targeted an air base southeast of Heifa.

That's Israel's third largest city. It also said that it hit a military industrial complex north

of Heifa. But what is important is the messaging. And Hezbollah is delivering a few messages

here to the Israelis. and that is we are still

able to operate.

We are still able to launch rockets across that border, despite the wave of airstrikes

that Israeli fighter jets have been carrying out on what it calls Hezbollah's infrastructure

across southern Lebanon. Hezbollah's strikes on Haifa come as rescuers in Lebanon continued to search for missing people

after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed at least 38 people on Friday.

Senior Hezbollah leaders were among the dead, as were civilians, including women and children.
