Hey, so in the midst of this cultural moment as we're all just being rocked with the

realities of racism in our country and our church, even in our own hearts, I've been

drawn to the parable of the good Samaritan.

And I've kind of found myself just really doing a lot of self-examination and I don't know

if this is helpful for you or not, but I've been thinking about the different characters

in this parable and imagining myself as each one of them and maybe even exploring in my

own heart where to identify, where do I identify with the different characters.

So you probably know this, this is how to Luke chapter 10, but this expert in the law

comes up to Jesus and says, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

And Jesus says, well, you know the law, how do you read it?

And he says, well, love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, your mind

and your strength and love your neighbor as yourself.

And Jesus says, you're right, do this and you will live.

But then it says that this guy wanted to justify himself.

He wanted to make himself look right before Jesus.

So he said the follow up question, and who is my neighbor, Jesus?

And in reply, Jesus said this, a man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho when he

was attacked by robbers.

They stripped him of his clothes, they beat him and went away, leaving him half dead.
