Hey everyone, welcome to the Bridgetown Daily for Thursday, April 2nd.

I'm Dave Lomas from Rialdy San Francisco standing in for John Mark Comer.

Today for our daily, I want to meditate and reflect on a hymn.

It's the famous hymn, Doxology.

A couple of weeks ago I heard a rendition of it that I can't stop listening to.

Like honestly, I can't stop.

Every time I hear it, it makes me want to cry and I've listened to it, like 2,000 times

now.

I didn't know this hymn, which I love so much and I've sung a trillion times before.

I didn't realize this hymn could be filled with so much pain and angst and longing until

I heard this rendition of it.

This version of it fills me with memories I didn't know I had access to and fills me with

a future that I can't wait to get to.

Every time I hear it, I feel all at once that I understand and the deepest part of me

how long the journey is as creatures to get back home to God.

I think of one day seeing Jesus and every tear being wiped from my eye.

This song feels like my funeral and Easter morning at the same time.

Now I won't make you wait any longer till I hear this or listen to this version.

The word doxology comes from the Greek words doxah and lagas and the word literally means

a word spoken of glory or a spoken word of glory.
