with you on Wednesday, May 13th. One of the things that has brought me the most

comfort and peace during this season of COVID-19 and shelter in place has been to remember

God as Trinity to read good theology and to reflect on what that means. So today I just

want to share with you a couple of reflections on God as Trinity that I hope are helpful for

you wherever you're at today. I hope these bring comfort and peace. First, God as Trinity

and the face of God in Jesus is love. You know, we often quote A.W. Tozer who said,

so wisely that the most important thing about you is what you think of when you think about God.

So what do you imagine when you think of God's face and what's the expression on his face?

Is it like Zeus who's angry and ready to strike you down if you step out of line or is it the face of

Jesus? Is it a scowl? Is it loving affection or even something else? I've been loving just reading

and studying, finding new books on the Trinity and reflecting on this reality that the center of

the universe is this relationship and it's God the Father loving the Son with the Spirit.

We exist because of this overflowing joy and life from the Trinitarian community of love.

As I said earlier, the face of God is Jesus and it's love. And reflecting on that,

Baxter Krueger in his book on the Trinity says this.

Then and there in that moment, I suddenly realized the problem of my life. All along,

I've been thinking about God the wrong way. All along, I had misjudged the very being of God.

I had been blind. God is not some faceless, all-powerful abstraction. God is Father, Son, and Spirit.

Existing in a passionate and joyous fellowship. The Trinity is not three highly committed religious

types sitting around in some room in heaven. The Trinity is a circle of shared life.

And the life shared is full, not empty, a bounding and rich and beautiful, not lonely and sad and
