They're calling it generation COVID.

These are our young people, 16 to 25 years of age who look at the future and they seem totally lost.

And according to the latest studies, that age group is now twice as likely as older workers to have lost their jobs.

And we know from a new study by the Prince's Trust that 41% of those younger people now believe that their futures are impossible to achieve.

That number goes up to 50% if you are from a poor background.

And as we look even further into the numbers, six out of 10 of those younger people, 16 to 25,

saw their earnings fall. But when you go into education, the scene and thoughts are even more dire.

The London School of Economics has just reported that during lockdown, two and a half million students had no schooling or tutoring whatsoever.

And they reported that poorer pupils would now suffer permanent educational scarring because of this.

Why aren't our politicians talking about this?

Why are they not providing opportunities for our children?

Why are they not getting our cities back to work?

I don't hear that dialogue.

All I hear is about lockdown,

but we're not thinking about the possibilities and the hopes and dreams of our children.

These are the people that are going to go on to build our cities in the future.

And if they don't see any possibilities for next year and the year after, there's going to be generational damage.

But it goes even further because according to the Samaritans, which is an incredible

charity group here in the UK that deals with depression and suicide, they have reported a quote,

massive increase in anxiety in this same group of students 16 to 25. This all makes up what they're

calling generation COVID and it's dark. It's very dire. I remember when I was that age, my future was bright. I was about to go to MIT. I could see myself getting a job in engineering or Wall Street. Anything was possible. My daughter is 16 years old. She asked me, what's gonna happen in the future? Am I gonna be able to go to university? Or am I going to be on a Zoom call?
