So why did you feel you needed to do this?

Because we need change.

I know many very capable black coaches, some of my staff, who I know if given an opportunity

or when given an opportunity, are going to go and do a great job on their interview.

And I would just hate for that to be a waste.

That is former Dolphins head coach Brian Flores,

the man who sued the NFL and three of its teams this week,

with a lawsuit claiming racial discrimination,

implicating some of the richest and most powerful men in football, and inditing an entire industry that's left him looking for a job.

So today, we ask our resident legal expert, Ryan Smith,

to explain what this lawsuit is really about, what's at stake, and where it goes from here.

So Ryan Smith, the last time we talked was a couple of episodes, actually, about the NFL's race-norming, litigation, controversy,

settlement. And we bring you on here today, not just because this story intersects with that one, but also because you worked for an NFL team as a lawyer, correct? Yeah, that's right. Pablo,

I worked for the Jaguars back right before the turn of the century, so many moons ago.

But ironically, I worked for a senior vice president who was black and many of the people on our staff were black.

So we had a very diverse group in the Jaguars.

Well, now we reckon with diversity across the NFL, Ryan, because this lawsuit that we heard about on

Tuesday filed by Brian Flores, the recently fired head coach of the Dolphins, is taking aim

at the NFL and three teams in particular, the Dolphins, the Giants, and the Broncos.

And it claims discrimination in the hiring process. So just at the very top here, how big a deal
