Summary

The lovely Rachel was back on the show today for another in-person recording. We got our teeth into the big news on the EU and conclude that people will probably like the passport stuff but hate the fishing. Then there's the Lineker news, first red card of his career. In the Patreon only we get irate about the suggestion that speed limits could come down to 10mph. CATCH ME ON MY TOUR ‘Basic Bloke 2: There’s No Bloke Without Fire’. Hello and welcome to this week's episode of what most people think

0:16.0

And I hope you can hear from the, well, the proper sound quality that we are back in the studio. I've got Rachel Fairburn returning to the show. First time in the studio. What do you think? I like it. If people see on YouTube, some people have commented that it looks like a sauna. It does look like a sauna. It does look, it's peculiar. But I like it. I like the red. The red and the black really pops. I mean, it's the first time like I've had a female guest on in the sauna, so it feels a bit weird. A good thing is in the clips, it doesn't look like it's that close. No, I've seen the clips. They look good. Yes, well, people go and have a look on YouTube if you want to see it. And one thing I'm asking to people is coming to do this is you do live in London. Yes. Despite the sound of your voice. Despite the sound of my voice, yeah. I do live in London.

0:57.0

You haven't compromised.

0:58.0

Nope. people is coming to do this is you do live in London. Yes. Despite the sound of your voice.

0:54.6

Despite the sound of my voice, yeah. I do live in London. You haven't compromised. No, absolutely not. Still as northern as you ever. Still as northern as ever. But breakfast costs in London. Every time I do a show here, I'm going to moan about it. I went to Leon and 899 for a breakfast pot of a coffee actually isn't that bad. It's fine

1:12.0

It's fine

1:13.4

That's in the ads like 899 for a breakfast pot of a coffee actually isn't that bad.

1:44.2

It's fine. It's fine. That's their new ad slogan. It's fine. I just think we're used to, everything's so expensive that I think we're just used to just paying so much for things that. Do you think that it hits an age where just everything only ever seems more expensive? Like you know your grandparents, they only ever think that there are more cars on the road? Yes. Everything costs as much as I think it's going to be. Like, I'm never surprised that something's cheap anymore. Never. That never happens. And because I think we pay with cards all the time, you know, we're using contactless. I just think we don't think about how much things cost. I think so, you know, after the pandemic, one of my views as to why inflation was so bad here was because a lot of European countries went up to 100 quid for the limit. Most of them went back down at 50. But oh, the good old UK kept it out of 100. So I've always maintained that once you've paid 20 quid, 21 pounds for a burger, you know all these fancy

2:01.7

burgers, burger and a drink, if you've counted that out in a couple of notes and a pound quote, you'll never forget that feeling. Absolutely. You tap for that. It's gone. Gone. You don't even think about it. How old do we sound right now, by the way? Well, I know. The other thing is I was in Australia last month and I used my card constantly.

2:19.8

I didn't use cash at all. right now. Well, I know. The other thing is I was in Australia last month and I used my card constantly.

2:19.8

I didn't use, I didn't use cash at all in the entire month and, well, I spent more money than I thought.

2:26.7

Well, you would have done.

2:27.3

And also, you don't get that lovely feeling of coming home and having some weird funky change.

2:30.5

Oh, it's nice, that in it, yeah.

2:31.4

I like that, yeah.

2:33.1

Northern is like that, do you?
