Can you tell us a little bit about your background and maybe some things that happen that led you towards what you're

doing today with symposia? It's symposia. Because our first event was the symposium. I think

people still refer to us as the symposium.

My background is actually as a really a musician.

Let's see, when I was 13, I started playing guitar.

I was a poet.

I started writing and performing music and playing it in the halls of my school.

And around that same time, I started reading a lot about psychedelics.

I don't know exactly what got me interested,

but it could have been a friend of mine, a very dear friend of

mine and mentor who is now a professor at MIT, and he'll remain nameless for this call.

You know, I'd befriended him when I was nine or ten, my aunt was one of his roommates.

He was actually a film person, and he had all these film posters around his wall.
