One of the greatest gifts, or the greatest gift I've had since I've been in this program

besides my own sobriety is a privilege of watching people come in hopeless struggle in here and learn to

stay sober and turn their lives around it is said where I come from that I work best with hopeless cases

and I do because I was so hopeless when I came here

I was really in the bottom of the barrel

when I first met our speaker today Brenda

when she struggled in here, she was totally without hope. Her spirit was

broken. And it's been such a pleasure and such a privilege to watch her be able to stay sober,

learn to walk tall, look the world in the eye and take life on life's terms.

When I first met Brenda, I said, Brenda, it don't have to be this way.

It don't have to be this way.

It don't have to be this way.

Because I could identify with her.

And she listened and she heard, and she has struggled ever since she's been here.

She's had the idea that if there's anything else that A's to offer, she's going to have it,

and she's working for it. She has come in and hit the road running. She celebrates her sobriety

every day by helping others.
